Medartis, a leading orthopedic company specializing in head and extremity surgery, announced the acquisition of the Avenger Radial Head System from In2Bones Global, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of CONMED Corporation. This acquisition enables Medartis to offer surgeons both replacement and reconstruction solutions for elbow procedures. Commercial distribution in the US market will begin immediately.

The Avenger Radial Head System addresses strong market demand from US surgeons for complete elbow treatment solutions. The system offers surgeons intraoperative flexibility to choose between arthroplasty or plate fixation based on individual patient needs. Initial distribution will utilize existing inventory while Medartis completes the 18-month integration into its quality management system. Upon completion, Medartis will assume the role of legal manufacturer for the Avenger Radial Head System. Both parties have decided not to disclose the financial details of the transaction.

Matthias Schupp, CEO of Medartis, said: “The addition of radial head arthroplasty represents a strategic milestone in strengthening our upper extremity portfolio. Combined with the upcoming launch of dorsal olecranon plates, this acquisition advances Medartis' position as the preferred partner for surgeons treating elbow injuries.”

The Avenger Radial Head System features:

• Modular design offering 120 head-stem combinations
• Smooth tapered stem and highly polished articular surface
• Morse taper connection for easy assembly
• Optional sterile, single-use instrumentation kit

The system's sterile, single-use instrumentation eliminates on-site sterilization requirements, improving operating room efficiency and reducing procedure delays. This feature is particularly valuable in trauma surgery, where immediate implant availability is critical. The acquisition complements Medartis' existing elbow solutions, including CCS Cannulated Compression Screws with immediate bite capability and reduced insertion torque and TriLock Radial Head Plates 2.0 with low-profile design and optimized anatomical fit.
